Hawaii 17th January

Friday

We went for a scenic bus ride to get to the trail head for the hike to Mānoa Falls, a 150 foot waterfall in Manoa Valley.

The hike was easy enough through some spectacular forests. The waterfall wasn’t quite so spectacular being only a trickle from on high. I imagine when it rains it would be awesome.

Visited the Lyon arboretum in the same area. Had a long walk round. Truly magnificent collection of native and exotic plants and trees. The whole place was a joy. There were birds flitting about  - the salmon crested cockatoos were by far the most raucous with their cat like call!

I lay in the grass in a high clearing watching the few clouds in the sky floating around …perfect peace.

A great out of town day … good to be in amongst the trees again.

The buses in Hawaii were brilliant. An all day ticket to go anywhere as often as you like for only £6

Very little water but the trek was good
