New Zealand

Monday

Flew out of Fiji Monday morning - we completely lost Sunday as we crossed the international dateline. In Hawaii we were 10 hours behind UK time and here we are 13 hours ahead…mind boggling. I’m wondering if I won’t be 63 until the 17th of January next year🧐😂

The flights were good…on a Boeing 737 and an Airbus … more legroom in the Airbus!

We collected our (very) used rental car from Auckland and once we figured out how everything worked set off on our epic journey North to Paihia.

The Auckland roads were busy but once out of town the traffic was minimal. I’m so happy to see cows and sheep and green fields and mountains. All the wide open spaces … the scenery is spectacular. We made a few stops just to stand and stare. As we travelled North through the windy roads, the clouds thickened and it started to rain and the temperature dropped to 18!  That was a shock to the system… I’d forgotten about rain and chilly weather. Arrived at our motel about 7pm just in time to grab some food down town and buy breakfast.  The rain got heavier and the wind howled all evening 😳

So looking forward to my bed… 😴
