San Francisco
We were so lucky with all our travels going smoothly on Thursday and Friday. Even the trains were on time. I have to say I was quite alarmed on arriving at terminal 5 at having to ride in a pod to get to our hotel. Hurtling along on a track into the unknown..mind boggling 😳 I couldn’t help but laugh. The BA flight was brilliant … I actually enjoyed the meals!! For some reason we were given vegetarian Asian meals so curry twice! Also 12 hours without screens. Despite the huge choice there was nothing I wanted to watch on such a small screen. We read and chatted and dozed off.
We caught the Bart train from the airport then walked half a mile to our accommodation.
We’re staying in a motel in San Bruno, a small town south of San Francisco. It’s a great little place, as the their tag line says ‘simple and efficient’. I love it; it reminds me of our road trips in the US in the late 1990s.
Saturday
A beautiful sunrise.
We devised a walking tour with a few recommendations from other travellers and places we thought we’d enjoy.
We had breakfast at Sears for a treat… I forget how huge the portions can be in the US… my slice of banana bread was nearly 4cms thick, but I made my way through it with a couple of refills of coffee. Quirky place with posters and photos on the walls and a nice laid back atmosphere.
We walked 10 miles taking in historic buildings, China town, parks, the water front, basking sea lions and food!! I love the long, steep streets that disappear into the endless blue sky.
